The Falmouth Mob Match

The Falmouth Mob Match is a 5 mile road race on a undulating course with breathtaking views around Pendennis Point, Swanpool and Gillingvase beach.

Scoring calculated as first runner home gets 1 point, second runner home gets 2 points, third runner home gets 3 points etc.  The winning teams will be those with the least number of points.

This year we have slightly changed the rules regarding eligible scoring teams:

Prizes for 1st and 2nd winning Teams in each Division, allocated as follows:

Division 1, for clubs with 180 or more first claim members:
·         The points from the first 18 men & first 12 women home from each club will be totalled to determine the winning teams. Each club may only have one men’s & one women’s team to count.
·         Runners finishing outside the first 18 men & 12 women of their own club will affect the opposition’s final score by pushing the other clubs’ scoring runners further down the field

Division 2, for clubs with 50 to 179 first claim members:
·         The points from the first 12 men & first 8 women home from each club will be totalled to determine the winning teams. Each club may only have one men’s & one women’s team to count.
·         Runners finishing outside the first 12 men & 8 women of their own club will affect the opposition’s final score by pushing the other clubs’ scoring runners further down the field

Division 3, for clubs with less than 50 first claim members & unaffiliated teams:
The points from the first 6 runners from each club will be totalled to determine the winning team. Each club may have one team of 6 to count.

Prizes will be awarded to the first two of each team category. Only one prize, for each appropriate category, will be awarded to any club.

The start and finish of the race takes place by the side of Gyllyngvase Beach, Falmouth.  Registration and prize-giving is located in the Falmouth Beach Hotel opposite.   Hot snacks along with a licensed bar make a great excuse to stay awhile after.

The eagerly-awaited results of the Cornwall Glass & Glazing Cornish Grand Prix Running Series are also published at the Mob match prize-giving, which makes it an extra-special occasion - definitely one to stay around for.
